About
“There is a curse. They say: May you live in interesting times.” Sir Terry Pratchett
We certainly are living in interesting times. Shifting geopolitical tides, changing global and regional dynamics, and a news cycle that feels like Pandora’s box, it is almost overwhelming to keep up with current events.
Further muddling the issues is the fact that decisions made by governments and global leaders harbor a level of incoherence that appears to be dragging the world to the brink of chaos.
To help you navigate this maze, I will bring you in depth analyses of geopolitical developments from a (former) insider’s perspective. Together we will explore the dynamics of decision making within governments, and how they affect global and regional dynamics.
There is a cacophony of voices presenting so many different opinions and points of view that it is sometimes difficult to sift through the noise and get a real picture of why and how events are developing and what their impact on the world will be.
Join me here to get a peek behind the curtains of how governments formulate their policies, where they get it right and wrong, and the impacts of those decisions. In our journey we will look at the patterns driving global events, the motivations behind them, and how intergovernmental dynamics play out.

About me
I am a former Egyptian diplomat with 16 years in the field. I resigned my position in late 2023 to join my family and settle down in one place for a while and have since found myself drawn back to the world of geopolitics and diplomacy.
I love to write and so I do, and I look forward to delivering valuable engaging content that raises questions (and maybe eyebrows) and brings ideas to the table for discussion.
Thank you for joining me on this journey!
Mohammed
